CHARLESTON DEFEATS MONMOUTH BASEBALL FRIDAY

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Baseball dropped the series opener to College of Charleston Friday, 21-2. James Harmstead homered for Monmouth in the defeat.
 
Dante Ciaramella allowed just two runs across the first three innings, recording three strikeouts to keep the Hawks in it. Charleston opened it up with multiple runs in the next several innings, including five in the seventh and sixth in the eighth behind a three-home run performance from Luke Wood, who drove in seven runs in the game. Cougars started Ty Good took a no-hitter into the sixth and eventually went 6.1 scoreless. James Harmstead got MU on the board, lifting a two-run homer in the ninth to the opposite field.
 
NOTES

-James Harmstead hit his team leading fifth home run of the season.
-Nick Czarnecki picked up his second hit of the season in the ninth.
-Dante Ciaramella made his second start of the season.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
 
-Charleston outhit Monmouth 19-7.
-Ty Good earned the win with 6.1 scoreless innings, striking out eight.
-Chris Killian tossed a scoreless outing for Monmouth, finishing with 1.1 clean innings and two K's.
