WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Baseball dropped a midweek contest to in-state foe Princeton Wednesday, 17-11.
Will Trochiano had three hits for MU, while four different Hawks drove in multiple runs.
After the Tigers took an early 11-1 lead, Monmouth fought back with three in the third.
Phil Stahl notched a sac fly before consecutive RBI hits from
Jay Bant and Trochiano made it 11-4. MU's best offensive surge came in the seventh, when trailing 15-5, the Blue and White racked up six consecutive hits and had the tying run on deck.
Skyler Saunders delivered the biggest blow with a two-run single, and
James Harmstead's long drive to center came up just shy of the fence. Two runs for the visitors in the eighth was added insurance in the 17-11 victory.
