Billie Kerwood struck out five batters in relief, but the Monmouth University softball team fell to Saint Joseph's by a score of 3-0 on Sunday – the final day of the Pirate Invitational in Greenville, NC.
Kerwood took over in the circle with a 3-0 deficit after Kylie a two-run homer chased senior
Kylie Gletow in the top of the fifth. Gletow gave her Hawks 4.1 innings and struck out two. Kerwood finished the rest of the game, striking out five of the 13 batters she faced and allowing only one hit. The two combined to strand 10 SJU runners on base.

Offensively, Monmouth left five runners on throughout the seven-inning contest.
Mackenzie Bloss (1-for-3) and
Julia Thuer (1-for-2) each contributed with singles.
