MU COMES BACK TO RUN PAST DREXEL IN THRILLER 69-67

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Men's Basketball got a final defensive stand to cap a double-digit second-half comeback on Saturday over Drexel University, 69-67 to capture a third win in a row in CAA play. Tahron Allen led all scorers with 19 points for MU.

Monmouth trailed by 12 in the early stages of the second half before a 14-0 run put Monmouth up three, capped by Jarvis Vaughan tying it in transition and Allen netting a three-point play to put MU on top. Luke House hit a triple to give Drexel the lead back at 8:31, but Allen tied things again and a Klemen Vuga block led to Jack Collins nailing a go-ahead three in transition with 6:38 to go. Drexel regained a five-point lead, but the Hawks used a 6-0 run to go back in front. Myles Foster was fouled with a minute to play and made two free throws to give the Hawks a two-point lead, and MU got two stops, including one on the final possession to force a Drexel off-balance three at the buzzer that came up short.

Monmouth scored the first two baskets of the game to take an early lead, but Drexel used a 13-0 run to push in front. Tahron Allen's runner cut it to 32-26 at the 4:04 mark, and Allen later converted a driving three-point play to send MU to the break down 42-30. Luke House had 15 in the opening period for Drexel.

NOTES AND QUOTES

"My mindset is just to go into the game with confidence, find my game on the defensive end and let it translate to the offensive end." – Guard Tahron Allen
