VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Monmouth University men's track and field program were second-best at the inaugural Colonial Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships this week in Virginia Beach, VA.
The Hawks finished second behind Northeastern, racking up 155 total team points, while the women placed eighth with 42.5.
Keven Kevelier was named the meet's Most Outstanding Field Performer. The redshirt sophomore tallied 16 individual points thanks to his gold-medal effort in the high jump (2.00m) and his bronze-winning performance in the triple jump (13.93m).
Kevelier was part of a three-way sweep for the Hawks in the men's high jump.
Rickie Casazza and
Blake Wehr both posted a clearance of 2.00m, with Casazza taking silver and Wehr taking bronze, officially.
After finishing with the CAA's top mark during the regular season,
Ahmad Brock took gold in the men's triple jump with a leap of 14.33m.
In the mile,
Louis DiLaurenzio won the gold medal on the men's side with a time of 4:06.15, while
Ashley Navarro was edged in the women's event. Navarro placed second at 4:56.57 but got her revenge in the women's 800m. The redshirt senior won gold with a time of 2:11.04.
David Strong won the bronze medal in the heptathlon with 4630 total points, winning two events (60m dash and long jump) in the process.
For relays, the men's squad won silver in both the 4x400m (3:15.21) and 4x800m (7:37.99).
