SECOND HALF RALLY LIFTS BROWN OVER MONMOUTH

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Brown University staged a second half rally and battled for a 59-58 win over the Monmouth University women's basketball team on Sunday afternoon. 
 
The first quarter was a back-and-forth battle that featured a pair of ties. Monmouth scored three points in the final minute of the period and took an 11-8 lead after 10 minutes of action. 
 
Monmouth went on an 8-3 run to start the second period and took a 19-11 advantage. Taisha Exanor had five points in that stretch. The two teams traded points over the next several minutes as an Ariana Vanderhoop triple at 1:57 gave Monmouth a 29-19 lead. An offensive rebound and a follow by Belle Kranbuhl sent Monmouth into the halftime break with a 36-22 lead. 
 
Kaci Donovan drained a three-pointer to start the third quarter as Monmouth took its largest lead of the game, 39-22. Brown cut the lead to eight, 43-35 on a three-point play from Alyssa Moreland at 3:58. An Exanor bucket at 3:33 pushed the home team's lead back to 10, 45-35. A three-pointer from Jaye Haynes with six seconds left gave Monmouth a 49-41 lead after three.
 
After Monmouth scored the opening basket of the fourth quarter, Brown used a 16-2 run to turn a 10-point deficit into a four-point advantage, 57-53 with 2:08 to go. Kyla Jones had 14 points for the Bears in that stretch. A three-pointer from Donovan and a bucket from Vanderhoop gave Monmouth a 58-57 lead with 1:06 left on the clock. Jones scored with 43 seconds to play to give Brown a 59-58 edge. The Hawks got a pair of shots off in the final 30 seconds but were unable to get either one to fall and Brown claimed victory.

- It was the second straight year, that Brown defeated the Hawks by one point. Both games were decided in the final 30 seconds of action. 
- Kaci Donovan had a team-high 15 points in the game. It was the fourth time in the last five games she has reached double figures. 
- Jaye Haynes finished with 10 points and has reached double figures twice this season. 
- Ariana Vanderhoop had 12 points to reach double figures for the fifth time in six games. 

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth shot 41.5% from the field while Brown posted a 41.3 field goal percentage.
- The Hawks connected on a season-high eight three-pointers in the game. 
- Monmouth held a 37-32 edge in the rebounding battle.
- Brown had 12 steals and scored 10 points on fast breaks.
- Kyla Jones led Brown with 34 points in the contest.
