November 01, 2023

RICHMOND, Va. – Five members of the Monmouth University men's soccer team were honored as the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) announced its end-of-the-year awards on Wednesday morning.

Midfielder Ben Zakowski, defender Gabe Dahlin and goalkeeper Eryk Dymora all took home First Team All-CAA accolades. Defender Olle Brorsson earned Third Team All-CAA honors while forward Arturo McConnochie was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team.

Zakowski earned All-Conference honors for the third time in his career. Zakowski had a breakout final season for the Hawks. He has started 15 matches and leads the Hawks with 11 goals and one assist for 23 points this season. Zakowski currently ranks second in the CAA for goals and points while leading the league in game-winning goals. He scored a pair of goals in a game twice this year and a four-game goal scoring streak earlier this year.  Zakowski has scored three of his goals on penalty kicks. His six game-winning goals is tied for second national.

Dahlin was honored for the second straight year after earning third team accolades last year. He is a key cog in the defense for the Hawks. He has started all 16 matches and helped the Hawks hold 15 of 16 opponents to one goal or less, including six shutouts. Dahlin also tallied the first two goals of his Monmouth career as he scored at Delaware and against Northeastern.

Dymora was honored for the second time in his career by the CAA after earning a spot on the All-Rookie Team last fall. The Hawks enter the CAA Tournament ranked in the top 25 nationally for save percentage and goals against average thanks to Dymora's efforts in net. Dymora has played all 1440 minutes for the Hawks this season and has a 0.81 goals against average and a .790 save percentage. He has six shutouts to his credit and has made three or more saves in 10 games this season. Dymora had a career-high seven saves in the win over Northeastern earlier this fall.

Brorsson earned postseason honors for the first time in his career after serving as a key role on the Hawks' backline. He has started 14 matches this season and helped the Hawks hold 13 opponents in that stretch to one goal or less. Brorsson has played a key role in four of Monmouth's shutouts this season. Earlier this year, he scored the first two goals of his career to lift the Hawks to a 2-0 win at Stony Brook. He was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week and to Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News Team of the Week for his efforts in that contest.

A two-time CAA Rookie of the Week, McConnochie was honored after a solid freshman campaign. The forward currently ranks second on the team with seven points on three goals and one assist. His goal with 12 seconds to go in regulation helped the Hawks earn a 1-1 tie with Drexel. He also scored against Delaware and La Salle.

The Hawks will be back in action on Sunday, Nov. 5 when they host either No. 3 Stony Brook or No. 6 Elon at 1 p.m. in the CAA semifinals.
