WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Monmouth University women's soccer team scored the final three goals of the game as the Hawks rallied for a 3-1 victory at UNCW in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play on Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks applied the pressure early in this one, putting four shots on goal in the first 17 minutes of the game. However, Hannah Wise made the stops to keep the Hawks off the board.
Cassie Coster made a pair of solid saves down the stretch as the Hawks and UNCW went into the half tied at 0-0.
UNCW broke through with a goal just 50 seconds into the second half. Issy Bryant's tally gave the Seahawks a 1-0 advantage.
Monmouth got the equalizer at 56:27.
Chloe Ferreira played a ball into the box and
Maddison Perna was able to flick the ball into the back of the net.
The Hawks continued to push forward and were able to get the go-ahead goal at 78:06.
Liza Suydam took a shot that was blocked but the ball came right back to her, and she pushed the ball forward to
Julia Evernham, who buried it in the back of the net for the 2-1 lead.
Monmouth added an insurance goal at 83:25 as
Brianna Russo played a long ball into the box.
Lindsey Husic settled the ball and pushed it to
Rachel Ludwick in the center of the box. Ludwick drove the ball home for a 3-1 advantage.
Monmouth claimed the 3-1 victory.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth held a dominating 17-6 advantage in shots in the game. The Hawks took 12 shots on goal to UNCW's five.
- The Hawks held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks for the game.

Cassie Coster finished with four saves for Monmouth while Hannah Wise made nine saves for the Seahawks.
