JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Following a ten-day layoff, the Monmouth University women's soccer team showed no signs of rust in its 4-1 win over Saint Peter's on Wednesday afternoon at Caven Point Field.
 
The Hawks scored twice in the first five minutes of the contest and didn't look back. Making her first start of the campaign, A'Liah Moore found the back of the net in the fourth minute, sending a shot to the bottom right of the net past the Saint Peter's goalkeeper. Lauren Karabin scored her second goal of the season less than one minute later to put the Hawks up 2-0. Julia Evernham extended the lead to three in the 35th minute off an assist from Chloe Ferreira.
 
The Peacocks cut the deficit to two goals early in the second half, but the Monmouth backline held as Olivia Ramiz added another insurance goal in the 85th minute en route to the 4-1 victory.
 
NOTES
-Monmouth is now 27-0 all-time against Saint Peter's
-Four different Hawks scored a goal while five different Hawks found the scoresheetxs
-Karabin's goal was the 20th of her career, slotting her in a tie for 22nd in Monmouth history for career goals (Laura Kulick, Lauren Pachucki, Lexie Palladino)
-Moore's goal was her first of the season and eighth of her career
-Evernham and Ramiz both scored for the second time in 2022
-Ari Kelly made her collegiate debut in the first half
 
NUMBERS CRUNCH
-Monmouth had 13 shots while Saint Peter's had six
-Six of MU's shots were on goal compared to three for SPU
-The Hawks earned six corners with the Peacocks earning one
-The Peacocks committed slightly more fouls, 14-12
-The saves battle was even at two apiece
