WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University women's soccer team earned a point on Thursday night against visiting Hofstra, playing to a 1-1 draw.
A pair of freshmen connected on the equalizer in the 72
nd minute for the Hawks.
Kayla Reed floated a pass just inside of the box to a charging
Summer Reimet, with the latter managing to guide the ball into the back of the net to even up the match at 1-1. Hofstra initially broke the scoreless tie in the 63
rd minute when Dagny Run Petursdottir converted on an assist from Krista Agostinello.
Cassie Coster had another strong performance in net behind a strong Hawks backline, making four saves including two in the final minute to keep the score intact at one goal apiece.
NOTES
-This was the fifth meeting between the Hawks and Pride and the first since 2019
-It's the second time the two teams have played to a draw
-Reimet's goal was her fourth of the season; she leads MU in points with 11
-Monmouth moved to 8-2-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in the CAA
-Reimet returned to the starting lineup, making her tenth start of her freshman campaign
NUMBERS CRUNCH
-Hofstra narrowly took more total shots, 12-11
-The Pride also had more shots on goal, 5-3
-Monmouth won the corners battle, 4-0
-There were 15 fouls on the night—eight against Hofstra and seven against Monmouth
