WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Battling through the wind and rain on Sunday afternoon at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn, the Monmouth University women's soccer team edged Stony Brook by a score of 1-0.
Chloe Ferreira provided all the offense for the Hawks in the contest. The junior defender was awarded a penalty kick in the 38
th minute and successfully converted, giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Cassie Coster was busy in net, making a season-high ten saves in her CAA-leading eighth shutout of 2022.
NOTES
-Monmouth currently sits in a tie for third in the CAA with seven conference points
-Four of Monmouth's final five matches are at home
-Coster ranks among the top-ten nationally in shutouts
-The sophomore goalkeeper also ranks first in the CAA in goals against average and save percentage
-Ferreira's goal was her third of the campaign
