PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Backed by late goals from
Chris Morandi and
Ben Zakowski, the Monmouth University men's soccer team closed out September with a 2-0 victory over Saint Joseph's on Tuesday night.
After finding the back of the net for the first time in his career against Elon on Saturday, Morandi broke the scoreless tie in the 75
th minute. The Saint Joseph's goalkeeper saved a shot from
Ben Zakowski but could not corral the ball, allowing Morandi to head it in to give Monmouth a 1-0 lead. Zakowski would notch a goal of his own almost ten minutes later, sending a shot from just inside the box past the diving SJU keeper.

Eryk Dymora made four saves on the night including three in the second half to notch his fourth shutout of the campaign.
NOTES
-This was the first meeting between the two sides since a double overtime draw in 2005
-Monmouth is now 6-7-1 in the all-time series
-MU holds a perfect 4-0-0 record out of CAA play this season
-They have four non-conference wins for the first time since 2015
