FINAL SCORE

TOWSON, Md. – In its debut CAA match, the Monmouth University women's soccer team came away victorious with a 1-0 shutout against Towson on Thursday night.

The Hawks controlled play early in the opening half and were rewarded in the 19th minute when Maddison Perna sent a shot past the Tigers goalkeeper on a bounce to put Monmouth up 1-0.

The final 70 minutes of the match were scoreless despite strong scoring opportunities from both sides. Cassie Coster prevented Towson from notching the equalizer in the 84th minute when she saved a shot taken from just outside the box, with the ball ricocheting off the crossbar and out of play. The Tigers couldn't capitalize on the ensuing corner opportunity as the Hawks managed to hold on for the win.
