WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – In a battle of the hawks, the Monmouth University women's soccer team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 shutout against the Skyhawks of Stonehill College.
 
The match was scoreless for the first 25 minutes, but Chloe Ferreira notched her second goal of the season in the 26th minute to put Monmouth on the board. That would be the only goal of the first half as the Hawks went into the break with a 1-0 advantage.
 
Monmouth created multiple scoring opportunities in the final 45 minutes, resulting in three second half goals. Summer Reimet netted her third goal of the season in the 52nd minute, with Kayla Reed finding the back of the net for the second time this season in the 65th minute. With the Hawks up 3-0 in the 90th minute, Sammy Jones fed a pass in front of the net to her twin Allie Jones, with the latter heading in it for Monmouth's fourth goal of the match.
 
NOTES
-Today was the first-ever meeting between Monmouth and Stonehill
-The Hawks blanked six of their eight non-conference foes this season
-Monmouth has posted a goal differential of +18 over its first eight matches, scoring 22 goals while allowing just four
-It's the most goals the Hawks have scored over their first eight games since 2000 (22)
