LATE GOAL PUSHES HOFSTRA PAST HAWKS, 1-0

FINAL SCORE
#RV Hofstra 1 (3-2-0, 1-1 CAA)
Monmouth 0 (2-2-0, 0-2 CAA)

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University men's soccer team lost a heartbreaker to preseason CAA favorite Hofstra by a score of 1-0 on Saturday night.

The match remained scoreless well into the second half, but a Hofstra corner in the 80th minute proved to be the difference maker. The Pride utilized a set piece to head the ball past Eryk Dymora, scoring the lone goal of the contest.

Dymora made three saves including an athletic effort less than two minutes into the second half which kept the game locked at 0-0. Following a cross into the box towards the far post, a Pride player attempted a header, but Dymora stopped the shot with an outstretched arm as he was falling to the turf.

Monmouth was able to generate multiple scoring opportunities against a tough Hofstra backline, but the Pride were able to hold as their goalkeeper totaled four saves in the match.
