WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – In a rematch of last year's first round NCAA Tournament battle, the Monmouth University women's soccer team fell to No. 10 Penn State by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions struck first in the seventh minute on a rebound opportunity following a pair of saves by
Cassie Coster.
Rachel Ludwick was credited with the tying goal in the 55
th minute, but Penn State retook the lead in the 56
th minute. The Nittany Lions would go on to add an insurance goal in the 68
th minute, increasing their lead to 3-1.
NOTES
-The Hawks dropped their first contest of the season and are now 3-1-0
-They posted a 2-1-0 record during this homestand
-Ludwick's goal was her second of the season and third of her career
