WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University softball team (6-31, 1-7 MAAC) lost a pair of close games on Friday afternoon to close out its conference homestand. The Hawks lost in ten innings in game one by a score of 1-0 before falling in game two, 6-2.

Kylie Gletow and
Billie Kerwood crafted sensational performances in the circle in the game one defeat. Gletow started the game and tossed five innings, allowing just one hit and zero walks while striking out four. Kerwood entered in the sixth inning and allowed one run over her five frames, scattering two hits and tallying five punchouts and a walk.
Stavi Augur led the way offensively, going 2-5 with a double.

Fairfield took a 4-0 lead after two innings in the back half of the doubleheader. The Hawks plated their two runs in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit in half when Augur sent an RBI single through the left side, plating
Riley Riendeau and
Lexi Castaneda. Gletow got the start again and allowed three earned runs over three innings. Kerwood pitched four innings of relief, notching seven strikeouts while allowing one run on two hits and two walks.
