SOFTBALL LOSES CLOSE BATTLE TO COLUMBIA, 3-0

NEW YORK CITY, NY – In its final scheduled non-conference game of the season, the Monmouth University softball team (6-29, 1-5 MAAC) fell in a low-scoring battle against Columbia (9-20, 5-7 Ivy) by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
In a game that saw just six combined hits, all of the damage for the Lions came in the bottom of the fourth inning as they pushed across three runs on three hits and two errors.
 
Lindsey Baron, Julia Thuer, and Devin Coia each had one hit for the Hawks. Kylie Gletow started in the circle for Monmouth and went 3.2 frames, allowing three hits and just one earned run. Billie Kerwood tossed 2.1 scoreless innings of relief, notching one strikeout.
