JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Monmouth University softball team dropped both of its games on the first day of the JU/UNF Spring Break Challenge on Friday. After losing to Fairleigh Dickinson 9-1 in six innings, the Hawks suffered a 3-2 defeat to Saint Francis (Pa.) in eight innings to close out their day.

Junior pitcher
Kylie Gletow put together a strong performance against the Red Flash, holding the opposition scoreless for the first seven frames. The right-hander ultimately allowed seven hits and three runs (two earned) over 7.1 innings while striking out three in her third start of the season. Gletow also pitched 4.1 innings against the Knights in relief, allowing four hits and one earned run. Overall, Gletow posted an ERA of 1.80 over both games.

Making her fourth start of the season, outfielder
Kiley O'Rourke doubled to center field in the sixth inning of game one, picking up her second RBI of the campaign. In game two, preseason All-MAAC infielders
Lindsey Baron and
Julia Thuer each picked up an RBI in the eighth inning to give the Hawks their first lead of the game.
