COLLEGE PARK, MD – The Monmouth University softball team (3-20) battled Army on the final day of Maryland's Capital City Classic, ultimately falling by a score of 10-2 in six innings.

The Hawks got on the board first in the opening frame. With one out,
Francesca Torraca got on base with an infield single. Two batters later,
Julia Thuer singled back up the middle, bringing Torraca home and giving MU the early 1-0 lead.

The Black Knights countered in the bottom half of the second with three runs, holding a 3-1 lead until the fifth inning when
Lindsey Baron sent an RBI double to center field to cut the deficit to one. In the bottom of the sixth, Army pushed across seven runs to earn a 10-2 victory in six innings.
