LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Despite a late fourth-quarter rally, the Monmouth women's basketball team was unable to complete the comeback and ultimately fell to Siena, 61-54, on Thursday night.
Monmouth (10-8, 5-4 MAAC) trailed by as much as 17 in the third quarter before
Stella Clark spearheaded a run that pulled the Hawks within single digits with 2:54 left in the frame.
The Hawks continued to chip into the Saints' lead as the game entered the fourth quarter and an
Ariana Vanderhoop 3-pointer sparked an 11-3 run to make it a three-point game, 57-54, with less than a minute remaining. However, that was as close as Monmouth would get as Siena (6-12, 6-4 MAAC) iced the game at the foul line to secure the home win.
Clark finished with a game-high 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting with three 3-pointers. Vanderhoop chipped in with 10 in the scoring column, while
