SOFTBALL CLOSES OUT CHANTICLEER SHOWDOWN AGAINST DARTMOUTH

(8 inn.)
Dartmouth Big Green (2-1) – 3
Monmouth Hawks (1-8) – 1

CONWAY, SC – In its final game at Coastal Carolina's Chanticleer Showdown, the Monmouth University softball team fell in eight innings to Dartmouth, 3-1.

The Big Green struck first in the top of the second on a bases loaded sacrifice fly, but Kylie Gletow escaped the jam allowing just the lone run. Following a leadoff double by Lindsey Baron in the bottom of the third, the Hawks countered with a run of their own when Stavi Augur sent a double down the left field line to plate Baron.

The teams exchanged zeroes over the final four frames, setting up the first extra innings affair for Monmouth this season and the second in as many days for Dartmouth. The Big Green scored two quick runs in the top half of the inning, and while the Hawks were able to get two runners in scoring position with one out, they were unable to find the equalizer.
