CONWAY, SC – The Monmouth University softball team opened Coastal Carolina's Chanticleer Showdown against the host Chanticleers on Thursday night at St. John Stadium, dropping the five-inning affair 12-2.

Aided by four home runs, Coastal Carolina built an 8-0 lead after their half of the second inning. The Hawks got on the board in the top of the fifth when
Lindsey Baron went deep to center field for the team's first home run of the season. They added another run on an RBI single up the middle by
