WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – A big third quarter helped power Dartmouth University women's basketball to a 71-56 win over the Monmouth University women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon. The Big Green outscored the Hawks 19-6 in the third quarter to break open what had been a three-point game at the half.Â

Brianna Tinsley tallied a team-high 19 points and added six assists for the Hawks while
Ariana Vanderhoop added 14 points and seven rebounds.
Belle Kranbuhl led Monmouth on the boards with 10. Victoria Page poured in a game-high 25 points for Dartmouth.

Dartmouth sprinted out to a quick 7-3 lead in the first quarter. Five straight points from
Kaci Donovan gave the Hawks an 8-7 edge. The Big Green closed the first quarter on a 17-6 run and took a 24-14 lead after one period of play.
Lucy Thomas had all six of the MU points in that stretch.Â

Monmouth opened the second quarter on a 12-3 run and cut the Dartmouth advantage to one, 27-26 with 5:56 showing on the clock. Tinsley and Kranbuhl each had five points in that stretch. The two teams traded points as a pair of three-pointers by Tinsley to close out the quarter sent Monmouth into the half trailing just by three, 39-36.

Dartmouth's Page had the hot shooting hand in the third quarter as she scored 11 points in 10 minutes. The Big Green held the Hawks to just 17.6% in the stanza as Vanderhoop scored all six points for the home team. Dartmouth led 58-42 heading to the third. The two teams battled throughout the fourth quarter but the Hawks were unable to overcome a double-digit deficit and fell 71-56.
