WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Women's Soccer came back from a goal down to beat Northeastern Sunday, 2-1 and capture the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Regular Season Championship in the program's first season in the league.
Down a goal after Northeastern's Megan Putvinski converted in the opening half, MU needed less than five minutes to pull even. A ball played ahead saw Huskies keeper Holland Stam come out to challenge, but
Lauren Karabin was able to control and play one past Stam into the open net to get even.
Karabin contributed on the winning goal as well, recovering possession after having a shot blocked. Her cross found
Maddison Perna who headed it home to give MU the 2-1 edge with just over 30 minutes to play.
Cassie Coster was called on to make just two saves after that as MU won the regular season crown in the first season in the CAA.
