WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University women's soccer team built a 2-0 halftime lead in a driving rainstorm and came away with a critical three points in a 3-1 victory over Delaware on Thursday evening at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.

The victory vaulted Monmouth into a three-way tie for first place in the CAA standings with two matches remaining. The Hawks are level with Drexel and Northeastern with 14 points with the Dragons and Huskies remaining on the Monmouth schedule.
 
Monmouth got on the board first in the 30th minute when Julia Evernham pounced on a loose ball following a shot by Madison Perna. A little more than nine minutes later, Perna scored to push the Monmouth lead to 2-0.

Early in the second half it was A'Liah Moore who found the back of the net off a feed from Jesi Rossman. Delaware quickly responded with a 54th minute tally off a set piece that ran the final total to 3-1.
