JERSEY CITY, NJ – Monmouth University Men's Basketball (10-4, 2-1 MAAC) cut the deficit to one in the closing minutes, and were within one possession multiple times, but Saint Peter's University (4-7, 2-1 MAAC) held on for a 67-62 decision Friday night at Run Baby Run Arena.
The Peacocks led by as many as 11 points in the second half, but four straight points from Shavar Reynolds cut it to two with 5:27 to go.
Walker Miller's foul shot cut it to one with 4:29 remaining, and after SPU made it a four-point game,
George Papas hit a long two to make it two again. Saint Peter's hit five free throws in the final minute to secure the win.
Monmouth scored the first five points of the game, but a 10-0 SPU run put them up 10-5. The Peacocks would lead for the remainder of the half, but MU was able to cut it to four after a
Walker Miller dunk in transition and trailed by seven at the half, 33-24 behind eight points at the intermission from
Myles Foster.
