GEORGE PAPAS NAMED TO LOU HENSON AWARD WATCH LIST

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Men's Basketball's George Papas became the second player in program history to be named to the Lou Henson award Watch List Wednesday, earning a coveted spot on the list for the Mid-Major Player of the Year Award. The only other Hawk to earn a spot on the award's watch list, Justin Robinson, won the award in 2017.

Papas is Monmouth's leading scorer and a two-time MAAC Player of the Week selection already. He is averaging a team best 16.3 points per contest to go with 6.1 rebounds and a team-high 43 assists and 16 steals. He is shooting 43.4% and 37.7% from deep as well 86% from the foul line, and has posted a pair of 30-point outings already this year. He is one of three Hawks to start every game, and is currently second in the league in scoring, 11th in rebounding, sixth in assists, fourth in free throw percentage and first in threes made by a wide margin.

The only other Hawk to ever earn a spot on the Lou Henson Award Watch List is program all-time leading scorer Justin Robinson, who won the award in 2017 following his second straight MAAC Player of the Year honors and second consecutive AP All-America Honorable Mention.

Papas and the Hawks return to the floor this Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Peter's.
