WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO PROVIDENCE

FINAL SCORE
Providence 3 (3-1-1)
Monmouth 1 (4-2-0)

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to visiting Providence on Sunday at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.

Monmouth took the lead less than four minutes into the match when Lauren Karabin got behind the Providence defense and fired a right-footed shot into the lower left corner. Karbin's fourth goal of the season came off a long ball from Sarina Jones.

Providence answered to level the score in the 13th minute when Meg Hughes scored from outside the penalty area. The Friars scored again following a Monmouth turnover in the 32nd minute and then gained a two-goal advantage when Hughes tapped in a shot in front less than two minutes into the second half.

NOTES & QUOTES

- Head Coach Krissy Turner
