WOMEN’S SOCCER SUFFERS FIRST LOSS OF 2021 SEASON

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University women's soccer team's four-game winning streak came to an end after a 6-0 loss to No. 16 Rutgers on Friday afternoon at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn. 

The nationally-ranked Scarlet Knights jumped out in front with a goal in the 21st minute, and built a 4-0 advantage following a run of three goals spanning a 10-minute stretch late in the first half and after halftime. 

Rutgers ran the final total to 6-0 with goals in the 73rd and 83rd minutes.

- Maddie Ogden played the first half and equaled her career high with four saves in goal for Monmouth. 
- Rebecca Winslow played in goal in the second half and made two saves. Her personal shutout streak came to an end after 457:09 when Rutgers scored in the 48th minute. 
- Rutgers had the edge in shots, 21-3.
- Rutgers earned 10 corner kicks, while Monmouth took three.

Monmouth faces a quick turnaround for its next match. The Hawks will host Providence on Sunday afternoon in a 1 p.m. kickoff.
