MEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO UCONN IN DOUBLE OVERTIME, 1-0

STORRS, CT – A 106th minute goal propelled UConn to a double overtime win over the Monmouth University men's soccer team on Saturday night, 1-0. Redshirt senior Sean Murray (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) ended with eight saves for the Hawks and had his 285-minute shutout streak ended with the late goal.
 
UConn's Okem Chime scored on the bottom right of the net on an assist from Moussa Wade after 105 minutes of scoreless soccer.
 
Junior forward Liam McGregor (Middletown, NJ/Middletown North) led Monmouth with three total shots.
 
Monmouth drops to 2-1-1 on the season, and will travel to Sacred Heart on Wednesday night.
 
NOTES AND QUOTES

-Junior Julian Gomez registered the first shot on goal in the seventh minute.

-After a scoreless first overtime period, Murray made a save on the original shot by Wade in the second overtime, but UConn scored on the rebound.
