WOMEN’S SOCCER TOPS BUCKNELL TO REMAIN PERFECT

FINAL SCORE
Monmouth 3 (4-0-0)
Bucknell 2 (1-2-1)

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University women's soccer team collected its fourth consecutive win to begin the 2021 season with a 3-2 victory against visiting Bucknell on Sunday afternoon at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.

Lauren Karabin scored her third goal of the year and a Bucknell own goal off a corner kick helped the Hawks build a 2-0 halftime lead, but the Bison did not go away quietly. The Bison earned and converted a penalty kick in the 62nd minute to cut the deficit in half, but Monmouth quickly regained the two-goal cushion when Karabin was fouled in the Bucknell penalty area six minutes later. Brianna Russo scored the ensuing spot chance for her first-career goal and Monmouth came away with the win after Bucknell scored in the final 15 seconds.
