Lauren Karabin's goal midway through the second half was the difference maker for the Monmouth University women's soccer team in its MAAC Quarterfinal match against Niagara on Friday night at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.
The Hawks dictated the game from the start and finally broke through when Karabin scored in the 69
th minute. The junior forward settled and turned a bouncing throw in from
Sarina Jones and beat Niagara's Clara Bornet with a right-footed strike.
Bornet was forced to make 11 saves in the game as Monmouth built a 30-4 advantage in shots. The Hawks had 12 corner kicks, including eight after halftime, to Niagara's one.
