WOMEN’S GOLF PLACES NINTH AT SACRED HEART

MILFORD, CT – Monmouth University Women's Golf wrapped up the regular season with a ninth-place finish at the Sacred Heart Invite, as sophomore Paige Diecidue (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) led the Hawks after posting a two-under par 70 in the final round.

Diecidue's final-round 70 propelled her into the top-20, finishing tied for 19th. She posted a four-under par 32 on the back nine with a pair of birdies and an eagle. Cassidy Gavaghan (Ambler, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) was five shots better in her final round to finish T29. Liddie McCook's (Chester Springs, PA/Downingtown East) opening-round 75 was her best round of the week, finishing T40. Amanda Hart (Holmdel, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) and Claire Orr (Mulberry, FL/Mulberry) rounded out the MU lineup on the weekend.

NOTES AND QUOTES
"First of all, I can't tell you how proud of this group I am. We were in a situation this past weekend in which these young women spent 19 hours on the golf course completing 36 holes of golf... I repeat, 19 hours, between Sunday and Monday completing this event. During our first round on Sunday, it took our team four hours to finish the first 9 holes, and conditions never got any better. Major shout out to Amanda, Cassidy, Paige, Liddie and Claire for standing tall, fighting hard and overcoming huge obstacles. We had our lowest team score of the year in the second round, despite everything thrown out us. Just a gutsy team effort, the stuff you as a coach hope your team aspires to. So many clutch highlights over the event. The team and I couldn't be happier for Paige today - posting her first career under par round, with a 2 under 70 including opening up her front with a four under 32. Huge breakthrough performance!" – Head Coach Michelle Melia
