LOUDONVILLE, NY – The Monmouth University men's soccer team secured a point at Siena on Sunday, playing the Saints to a scoreless draw.
 
The Hawks were solid defensively throughout, allowing just one shot on goal in 110 minutes.
 
Redshirt junior goalkeeper Sean Murray (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) earned his second shutout of the season, making one save in the draw.
 
Monmouth's record goes to 1-1-1 (1-1-1 MAAC) on the season, and the team will return home to face Fairfield on Thursday.  
 
NOTES AND QUOTES
 
"The boys fought very hard today. Siena made it difficult to create chances in the final third. We're excited to get back to our home field this weekend." – Monmouth head coach Robert McCourt
 
-Siena got the first shot on goal in the fifth minute, but Murray was able to make the save.
-The remainder of the first half was defensive-minded, as neither team registered a shot on goal over the last 40:01.
-Monmouth earned a free kick in Siena territory in the 85th minute. Sophomore Julian Gomez ended up with a shot inside the 18, but it was blocked.
-The only overtime shot from either side came in the 107th minute, when freshman Bastian Hatcher sent an attempt wide.
 
NUMBERS CRUNCH
-Murray registered his fifth career shutout. He lowered his goals against average on the season to 0.61.
-Monmouth outshot Siena 11-6.
-Gomez led all players with four shots.
-Redshirt junior Alex Hajj added three shots.  
-Siena earned seven corner kicks to Monmouth's three.
