NOTES AND QUOTES

"I have to give Fairfield credit.  They found a way to win the game. We played some very good soccer for long periods and created some solid scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, we didn't put those chances and the game away. As a group, we continue to make positive strides. The boys will be disappointed but will learn from it and bounce back."  – Monmouth head coach Robert McCourt

-Monmouth got two quality chances in the 32nd minute. Sophomore Griffin Tomas' left foot shot from beyond the 18 hit the right post. On the rebound, sophomore Ben Zakowski's shot was saved by the goalkeeper.
-In the 46th minute, Tomas drew a foul inside the box. Gomez stepped up to take the penalty kick, and buried it inside the left post.
-Less than 10 minutes later, the Stags drew a foul inside the box, and scored the equalizer from the penalty spot.
-Nearly 30 minutes went by scoreless before Fairfield took the lead. The Stags dribbled down the right sideline, sent a cross to the far post that was headed down, and Lozowski finished the pass low left.
