FINAL SCORE
Monmouth 3 (2-0-1, 2-0-1 MAAC)
Canisius 0 (0-3-0, 0-3-0 MAAC)
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University women's soccer team scored three times in the span of 20 minutes in its 3-0 victory over Canisius on Tuesday afternoon at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.
The Hawks scored their first two goals as a result of set pieces. The first was a pristine volley by
Maddison Perna that she hit inside the back post off a long ball by
Lauren Bruno in the 28th minute. Less than four minutes later, Bruno, from 20 yards out, settled a Canisius clearance and ripped a left-footed volley into the top corner to give Monmouth some breathing room.
Jesi Rossman put the game away two minutes into the second half when she snuck a right footed shot into the upper 90, giving Monmouth its eventual final advantage.
