HART PLACES THIRD; GOLF COMPETES IN SECOND TOURNEY

WATCHUNG, NJ – Competing in its second tournament of the season, Monmouth University women's golf finished eighth at the FDU Knights Shootout on Sunday, held at Watchung Valley Country Club. Amanda Hart (Holmdel, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) finished third individually and was one shot off of second, firing a 76.

Hart, competing as an individual, shot 76 to place solo third in the tournament field that boasted 59 players. As a team, MU shot 339, finishing eighth in the 10-team tournament. Liddie McCook (Chester Springs, PA/Downingtown East) shot 83 to place T23, with Cassidy Gavaghan (Ambler, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) one shot back of her to finish T28. Paige Diecidue (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) and Claire Orr (Mulberry, FL/Mulberry) both shot 86, with Nicole Totland (Tinton Falls, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) shooting 92.

NOTES AND QUOTES

"First of all, I and the entire team couldn't be more proud of Amanda Hart's performance today. Amanda, over the last year, has dedicated herself to take her game to the next level. Early on this season, she was working through some things, and playing as an individual, finished in third today with a solid round of 76. Only 14 people in a very strong field broke 80 today, in a field of 59 players, including competitors from the Big East, NEC, and Patriot League on a very challenging golf course. Tremendous performance - I couldn't be happier for her! As a team, we were honestly disappointed. We had a wide range of inconsistency between nines, in which players shot only one or two over par on one nine and struggled on the next. We simply weren't ourselves at times.  We are young, talented, and in the falling down, we learn, get better, and succeed. Lots of highlights, but lots of places to build upon. As a coach, a great spot to be in!" – Head Coach Michelle Melia
