WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Sophomore Ann Spurka (Cumming, GA/Cambridge) of the Monmouth University women's tennis team has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week, the league announced this afternoon.
 
Spurka went 1-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-0 at No. 1 doubles. In Monmouth's win over La Salle, she defeated her opponent in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Teaming up with Nicole Gasser, she earned a convincing 6-0 win in doubles.
 
Spurka wins the award for the first time in her career.
 
The Hawks return to action on March 21 at Lafayette.
