WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Behind a four-goal output, the Monmouth women's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 shutout victory over Fairfield in the MAAC Tournament semifinals on Thursday night.
Less than five minutes into action, the Hawks took the lead.
Ava Allen passed the ball to
Chloe Ferreira and she sent a cross into the box to set up
Jill Conklin for the header.
Monmouth held onto its one-goal advantage and in the 40th minute tacked on an insurance score. The Hawks were fouled just outside the box and
Lauren Karabin rifled a free kick that ricocheted off the left post and into the goal to put her team up, 2-0.
In the 48th minute, the Hawks struck again. This time, it was
Alexis Marino sending a booming kick into the back of the net with her left foot. Less than 10 minutes later,
Jesi Rossman played the ball to Karabin and she found
Erin Dailey for the score to extend the Monmouth lead to four.

-Monmouth advances to the MAAC Tournament Championship game for the sixth consecutive season and the seventh time since joining the conference in 2013.
-The four goals were a season-best mark for the Hawks.
-The last time Monmouth scored four or more goals in a match was on Nov. 10, 2019 against Fairfield in the MAAC Tournament when the Hawks bested the Stags, 6-0.
-Monmouth has scored three or more goals in three consecutive outings.
-The Hawks last posted three or more goals in three consecutive games during the 2019 season (four straight games - Oct. 12-26).
-Monmouth scored four goals on nine shots against Fairfield.
