WOMEN’S SOCCER OUTLASTS NIAGARA IN WILD FINISH

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ –  Lauren Karabin's successful penalty kick goal with three minutes remaining broke a 2-2 tie as the Monmouth University women's soccer team defeated Niagara, 3-2, on Saturday night at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.

The Hawks built a 2-0 lead on the strength of a pair Jesi Rossman goals, one in the 7th minute and the second in the 67th, before Niagara battled back. The Purple Eagles scored following a corner kick with 12 minutes remaining in regulation before drawing and converting a penalty kick with less than six minutes left. 

Monmouth found itself tied in the final minutes before Rossman drew the penalty that Karabin converted.

- Monmouth improved to 9-3-1 on the season and 5-0-1 in the MAAC.

- Jesi Rossman registered her second-career two-goal performance.

- Lauren Karabin leads the team with six goals on the year after scoring her first-career penalty kick opportunity.
