WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Lauren Karabin's successful penalty kick goal with three minutes remaining broke a 2-2 tie as the Monmouth University women's soccer team defeated Niagara, 3-2, on Saturday night at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.
The Hawks built a 2-0 lead on the strength of a pair
Jesi Rossman goals, one in the 7
th minute and the second in the 67
th, before Niagara battled back. The Purple Eagles scored following a corner kick with 12 minutes remaining in regulation before drawing and converting a penalty kick with less than six minutes left.
Monmouth found itself tied in the final minutes before Rossman drew the penalty that Karabin converted.
