TOP-SEEDED HAWKS BEST RIDER, 3-1, IN QUARTERFINAL ROUND

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – A pair of goals from Lauren Karabin helped push the Monmouth women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Rider in the quarterfinal round of the MAAC Tournament on Sunday at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.

The Hawks (13-4-1, 8-1-1 MAAC) got on the board first in the 39th minute after Jesi Rossman battled to win a ball inside the box before sending a cross to Marino for the score.

Monmouth went into the half up by a goal against the Broncs (5-10-2, 3-6-1 MAAC), but added an insurance score in the 53rd minute when Karabin netted her first of the day after a touch by A'Liah Moore off the throw in from Sarina Jones.  Less than 10 minutes later, it was Karabin finding the back of the net again. This time, on a breakaway off the feed from Jazlyn Oviedo to put the Hawks up, 3-0.

Rider scored in the 78th minute, but the deficit was too much for the Broncs to overcome.
