WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth men's soccer team fell in a double-overtime MAAC contest, 2-1, to Manhattan on Wednesday night at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.
The Hawks (7-6-2, 5-3-0 MAAC) trailed 1-0 after allowing a Jaspers' (5-7-2, 3-4-1 MAAC) score in the 24th minute. However, with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Monmouth earned a free kick once
Julian Gomez was tripped up just outside the box.
Ben Zakowski took the kick and buried it into the top left corner to even the score.
In the second overtime period, Manhattan had a shot ricochet off the right post before it was headed past a diving
Sean Murray and into the goal to seal the 2-1 win.
