WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ- Monmouth University's football team had nine players represent 10 spots on the 2020 Preseason All-Big South Teams, conference officials announced on Tuesday.

The offense featured six players, including first team wideouts
Lonnie Moore IV (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul VI) and Terrance Greene Jr (Philadelphia, PA/St. Joe's Prep), offensive linemen
Justin Szuba (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) and
AJ Farris (Newark, DE/Eastern Christian Academy), tight end
Gene Scott (Wall, NJ/Wall) and running back
Juwon Farri (Germantown, MD/Northwest).

The defense was represented by seniors
Anthony Budd (Riverdale, MD/Good Counsel),
Justin Terry (Brooklyn, NY/Christ the King) and
Da'Quan Grimes (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) while Moore was also selected as the first team kickoff returner.

Moore and Greene Jr were two of the league's most productive wide receivers a season ago, with Moore tying the Monmouth record with 74 receptions. Moore was third in the league in all-purpose yards and had 1,022 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Greene was a second team selection in 2019 as a redshirt sophomore catching a team-high 10 touchdowns on 65 catches for 916 yards.

Szuba and Farris led the way for the conference's top offense a season ago, including the nation's top rusher. Szuba was a Sophomore All-American selection by HeroSports while Farris earned Third Team AP and STATS All-America honors after 2019.

Scott is the returning starter at tight end for the Hawks. Known as a punishing blocker, he had three receptions for 36 yards in 2019 but has appeared in almost 30 games for the Blue & White. Farri missed all of last season but was the 2018 Big South Offensive Freshman of the year after leading the league in rushing with 1,024 yards while earning first team all-conference honors.

Grimes earns all-league preseason honors after finishing first on the Hawks with 115 tackles (third in the Big South) with 13.5 tackles for a loss and leading the league in forced fumbles. Terry and Budd make up the premier defensive back tandem in the Big South, with Terry coming off a first team all-league performance last season that saw him finish with 62 tackles and 10 passes defended. Budd was first in the conference in interceptions while recording 66 tackles with 37 solo stops and eight pass breakups.

Moore has earned preseason All-America recognition at kickoff returner after averaging 27.8 yards per return and setting the NCAA FCS record with a 93-yard touchdown return in Monmouth's second round game against James Madison. Moore finished last season with 19 returns for 529 yards.

The Hawks were selected to finish second in the conference, one year after winning their first Big South Conference title. Monmouth garnered three of a possible 12 first place votes, with Kennesaw State selected as a preseason top team with eight votes and Charleston Southern with one first place vote. On Monday the University decided that due to Covid-19 health related concerns, all fall sports including football would be canceled for the 2020 season.
