WASSERMAN WINS MLL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH BOSTON CANNONS

ANNAPOLIS, MD - Former Monmouth University men's lacrosse student-athlete Bryce Wasserman '18, '19M helped the Boston Cannons capture the 2020 Major League Lacrosse Championship on Sunday afternoon at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Boston defeated the Denver Outlaws, 13-10, thanks in part to a 9-2 run that included a goal and an assist by Wasserman. The former Monmouth standout finished the abbreviated 2020 season with a league-high 21 points in six games as the Cannons went 4-2 on the way to their second MLL title in franchise history.

For his efforts, Wasserman was named the 2020 Major League Lacrosse Most Valuable Player.

Wasserman is the second Monmouth University student-athlete to win a major professional sports championship. He joined Chris Hogan, who won Super Bowl LI with the New England Patriots.

Wasserman, Monmouth's first-ever MLL draft pick, was drafted by Denver in the seventh round, pick No. 62, of the 2018 MLL Draft. He played his first season with the Ohio Machine in 2018 and spent the 2019 season with his hometown Dallas Rattlers.

At Monmouth, Wasserman helped Monmouth win its first MAAC Championship in 2017 and set single-season program records for goals (34), assists (17) and points (51) as a senior in 2018. He closed his career as Monmouth's all-time leader in goals (99), game-winning goals (9), hat tricks (14), assists (50) and points (149). Wasserman, the 2018 Bill Boylan Award winner, spent the 2019 season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Hawks as he earned his Master's Degree.
