TOWSON, MD. – Monmouth's breakthrough season came to an end Thursday afternoon as the Hawks fell to No. 16 Towson, 14-9, in the program's first-ever appearance in the CAA Men's Lacrosse Championship.

Monmouth, in its postseason debut since joining the league prior to the 2023 season, traded punches early with the nationally ranked Tigers. Senior captain Matt Dollive opened the scoring for the Hawks, while Nick Teets and Connor Gorman added an early tallies as Monmouth stayed within one midway through the second quarter.

After two late goals in the second and leading 6-3 at the break, Towson began to create separation in the third, outscoring the Hawks 5-1 in the third frame. The Hawks kept up their offensive pressure, finding the back of the net three times in the fourth, but the deficit proved to be too large to overcome.

Dollive and Gorman each finished with two goals, while Dollive added an assist for a three-point afternoon. Teets added a goal and an assist, his ninth multi-point outing to bring his season point total to 30. Riley Chester contributed a goal in the second half, giving him 17 on the year – blowing his previous career high of two (2024 and 2025) out of the water. Junior Matt Porazzo also scored for the Hawks, marking his sixth straight contest finding the back of the cage.

Dylan Cadigan recorded 12 saves in goal, keeping Monmouth within striking distance throughout against a high-volume Towson attack.
