SPARTANBURG, SC – Monmouth University Baseball (3-3) scored 10 runs in the seventh inning and went for 15 runs and 17 hits on the day in taking out Presbyterian College (1-5) in Spartanburg, SC on Saturday.
Dennis Filipovski (Ormond Beach, FL/Seabreeze/St. Petersburg College) drove in three runs for MU while
Rob Hensey (Campbell Hall, NY/Goshen) fired 6.1 effective innings.
Trailing 1-0, MU scored five runs between the fourth and fifth innings, with the big knocks coming from
JP Walsh (Spring Brook Township, PA/North Pocono), who drove a two-run single into center in the fourth ahead of an RBI double from Filipovski.
Robbie Holmes (Bernardsville, NJ/Bernards) followed in the fifth with a two-run double of his own to make it 5-1 Hawks.
Presbyterian got a run back in the seventh to trim the MU lead to 5-2 before the Hawk bats exploded for a 10-run inning. Filipovski drove in another two in the frame with a single up the middle, while
Matt Graber (Newton, MA/Dexter),
Brady Mutz (Swarthmore, PA/Strath Haven),
Jake Catalano (Southampton, NJ/St. Augustine Prep/RCGC) and
Nick Campana (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) also added RBI hits.
Dante Ciaramella (Eatontown, NJ/Monmouth Regional) would fire two spotless innings to secure the big win.

Rob Hensey pitched well; he pitched out of a bases loaded situation in the second inning that was a huge spot early in the game.
Mason Miller battled out of a jam in the top of the seventh to keep the game at 5-2. Although we scored a lot of runs today it was a grind it out, tight game up until that point.
