Sierra Green made a trio of three-pointers with less than a minute remaining, but Niagara hung on to defeat Monmouth on Saturday, 73-70. Green's triples came in a span of 24 seconds, but the Purple Eagles answered with a late layup from senior Jai Moore, who ended with 32 points. Senior
Alexa Middleton registered a double-double in the first three quarters, ending with 14 points and a season-high 18 rebounds. Sophomore
Lucy Thomas scored 17 points (7-13 FG) to go along with six rebounds in the loss.
SCOUTING THE SIENA SAINTS
Siena was selected 10th in the MAAC Preseason Poll. The Saints have registered a 1-6 conference record so far, with their only winning coming at Canisius on January 11. Senior guard Sabrina Piper is the only player to start all 16 games, and leads the team with 14.8 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Rayshel Brown is also averaging double-figures, adding 11.8 points per game. The Saint rank last in the MAAC in average scoring margin (-15.9 per game).
