WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – A successful penalty kick in the 68
th minute sent Princeton past the Monmouth University men's soccer team on Wednesday, 2-1.
The Hawks got on the board first in the eighth minute, as junior
Sebastian Rodriguez (Cartago, Costa Rica/Mont Berkeley) netted his second goal of the season on an assist from freshman
Julian Gomez (Fairview, NJ/St. Benedict's).
Princeton later tied the game in the 21
st minute, and scored the eventual game-winner in the 68
th minute with the penalty kick tally.
The Hawks fall to 0-5-0 on the season, and will travel to Binghamton this Saturday.

-Monmouth jumped out to an early lead on the goal from Rodriguez. The Hawks were awarded a corner kick, and the ball eventually kicked out to Gomez on the left side. He sent a low cross inside the six, where Rodriguez collected it, spun, and sent it inside the right post.
-The Tigers tied it up in the 21
st minute on a corner kick. The ball was flicked on from a header, and Walker Gillespie was able to find the back of the net.
-The teams played evenly for the next 40+ minutes. In the 68
th minute, the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box. Princeton's Kevin O'Toole tucked the ball inside the right post for the 2-1 lead.
