TEMPE, AZ – The Monmouth University men's tennis team was tabbed No. 9 in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Region Rankings. The Hawks finished the season with an 18-2 (6-0 MAAC) record and its fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Monmouth registered a 4-0 sweep over Fairfield in the MAAC semifinals and a 4-0 sweep of Quinnipiac in the MAAC Championship after winning the Regular Season Championship.
All six starters from the squad were named to an All-MAAC First Team. In addition, senior
Srdjan Jakovljevic was named MAAC Player of the Year. Senior
Nicola Pipoli, junior
Max Benaim, sophomore
Will Cooke Wharton, junior
Sergio Martinez, and senior
Alberto Giuffrida round out the starting six.
Head Coach
Chris Leicht was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in his first season with the team, leading the Hawks to 16 straight wins heading into the NCAA matchup with Penn State.
